Absolutely fantastic food and service. Normally we don't eat at the same restaurant two times on our vacations, but this were simple too good! We had pasta, meat and desserts and everything were at a very high level! Both presentation and the tast. Even though it is located at Collins it is a very romantic and the service was very pro. Yes! You have to wait a little bit, but that's how it is when everything is made from the bottom. Go there!

What a gem of a place this is! Great find for a quiet, casually elegant Italian meal in South Beach. It's classy and quiet, not like the ghetto places with street hawkers and neon lights and huge punch bowls on the main strip. And there's nothing wrong with those places, if you're in college or on a bachelor/bachelorette party. FIN. We had the lobster ravioli special with scallops, and it was delicious. The sauce was incredible. Service was great. Nothing to complain about! Make a reservation, you'll need it. If you're craving Italian after eating nothing but (awesome) Cuban food, this is a great little spot.

Lounge type music on the patio. Nice mediteranian style decor and an extensive traditional italian menu. Grilled veggies: excellent preparation with perfectly grilled zucchini slices right off the grill, eggplant was still firm and not mushy, tomato was perfectly ripe Antipasta plate is a very large sampling and perfect to start the meal with Raviolli with ricotta and spinach served with zucchini slices is a must order item. Ricotta cheescake is lighter than most but still satisfying, another not to be missed menu item.

I had to take a moment out of my busy day to write a review about this special place. Spiga is a refreshing, quaint, and a seriously delicious place to enjoy a chill evening away from the debauchery of the south beach strip. The restaurant is perfect for a small group of people looking to settle in for dinner on a beautiful Miami evening. I enjoyed the service of the wait staff - they were very attentive but also knew exactly when to fade into the background. The owner was also there and made every effort to greet his patrons. With all that said, this review is about the food and boy was it delicious. I had the grilled squid as an appetizer and a pasta/salmon dish that I'm still watering at the mouth for. Being from New York, (and this place does have the charm and class of a good NYC restaurant) I often leave Italian restaurants hungry, as the portions provided are quite small. I work out often *wink, wink* and a grown man of my stature needs to eat. Not to worry my fellow Yelpers, Spiga doesn't hold back on its portions. You will leave out of there feeling satisfied, not only in your tummy, but in your wallet as well. Here's the best part. My friend and I both had appetizers, a main course and shared a bottle of the house wine (also delicious)...the grand total: $100.00. Quick question, why are you not there already? P.S - make a reservation before hand.

Wonderful little Italian spot off the busy streets of South Beach, Miami. Service was excellent. Food: starters such as caprese salad and prosciutto de Parma were fresh and delicious. Fair warning, this review is probably only applicable to fellow New Yorkers. According to Yelp ratings, it'd be fair to say this is one of the best Italian restaurants in Miami Beach. However, I am not impressed at all. I can name a dozen Italian restaurants better than Spiga off top of my head, at same or lower price points than Spiga. Just to throw out a few names from my favorites, L'Artusi ($$$), L'Apicio ($$$), Bianca ($$). I'd bet my money that Spasso, Scarpetta, Malateste beats Spiga by many miles. My thoughts were "This snapper is a waste being cooked like this." "Seafood linguine is mediocre." "Lobster salad portion is ridiculously small." "Key lime pie is way too sour." Spiga wants to be high class, serve slightly more sophisticated Italian dishes, but their recipes simply don't work, and Spanish-accent waitresses are not knowledgeable in Italian cuisine or wines.. Decor was not anything worth mentioning. Seating was more cramped than you'd assume from its website photos. Two people finish at $150. I'm spoiled by fine Italian restaurants in NYC. If you're from elsewhere, you may be impressed, evidently as many Yelpers gave Spiga such high praising. Well, to each their own opinions! Cheers.

This was a last minute decision to come to Spiga (based on some Internet research and where we happened to be at the time). They say that sometimes the best things in life come to you when you least expect it, and from a culinary point of view, Spiga fits this to a tee. I had a wonderful frutti del mar pasta dish. It was out of this world. The dish featured a nice mix of clams, mussels, shrimp, and scallops done in a rich sauce and served over a bed of pasta. Even though I wasn't extremely hungry, I finished the entire thing - it was that good. If you're in the South Beach area and are looking for an out of the way treat, this place should definitely be on your list!

Can't say enough about Spiga. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary there last night. From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out, it lived up to the reviews. The server was very attentive and polite. We never had to lift a hand for anything. The owner was very cavalier and helped me surprise my wife with champagne and dessert. We arbitrarily stopped in to dine at Spiga while walking along Collins, and man are we glad we did. The outdoor seating was very nice on this warm spring evening. The place had quite a few other patrons, but was not crowded. Our server was very nice, friendly and knowledgeable. Both of our meals were very well prepared. But, the Ravioli Di Vitello a Funghi Shiitake (with bechamel, and then baked) was one of the best preparations either of us have ever experienced. Really special. I was so done with the barkers and high prices in South Beach. So, for having simply stumbled upon Spiga, this was truly a great find.

Words can't explain how good this place is, they can only try and speak for my experiences time and time again. I have been to this restaurant now a number of times and finally decided to share my thoughts with Yelp; a place I consider perfect for a date or for a group of close friends reuniting. It's a small cozy place with seating both inside and out; plenty of parking as well, either on the street in front of the restaurant or in one of the parking lots (12th or 13th) directly in front as well. I highly suggest making a reservation, since they tend to get packed at certain hours and make sure to make that reservation early enough to avoid any problems. I always switch it up when ordering the pastas, they are all delicious, in fact the only one I have ever had a problem with (mainly presentation) was the Linguine Alla Checca if memory serves me correct. When it comes to appetizers I suggest my favorite, the asparagus. I have yet to try any fish at the restaurant but have devoured every plate of meat I have ever ordered, with my favorite being the Saltimbocca, it comes with prosciutto in white wine sauce. Oh, and if possible try and leave from for dessert, you will understand why when you order it. The staff is always nice and extremely helpful, and the experience is well worth the time and money.

This place was great! I cannot believe that I'd never heard of this place before last night. It was my birthday and I was lucky enough to be taken here--by someone who wasn't even from Miami and clearly did a better job to find a new restaurant than I can as a local. When the date picked me up, I was a little nervous that we were headed to a restaurant on Collins. Various spots were running through my head as to where we could be going as I had not been told. When we pulled up to this restaurant in the front of a cute boutique hotel, I sighed a breath of relief and then when we walked inside I smiled. We sat at the bar and each had a glass of prosecco to start the evening and then were seated at an outside table. The wait staff was truly phenomenal--which is saying a lot for MB. We shared the mussels appetizer and I wanted more bread to sop up the broth; one of the best I've had. I had a little difficulty deciding on my main dish and was flip flopping between the veal and sea bass special of the night. I went with the sea bass and my date got one of the veal dishes. Both were served timely and we both rather enjoyed our meal. The sauce for the sea bass was divine! We ordered a bottle of the Malbec which went perfectly with the meal and I never once had to pour my own wine as the prompt wait staff was sure to constantly have the glasses full. It was truly a great birthday dinner--and a new surprise gem for a local!

I loved this place! First off, the atmosphere of where it is, is great! I started with the grilled baby octopus which was cooked perfectly, served on a bed of argula with lemon wedges. My friend had the grilled veggie app which she enjoyed as well. I had the gnocchi for my entree. The pasta was so fresh & the red sauce was perfectly cooked. My friend had pasta as well which was totally fresh as well. Service was great. I have read the others reviews concerning the prices & I didn't feel this way. Our total bill was $63, granted we did not have drinks or dessert. I highly recommend this place. Well worth coming to and you would be missing out if you didn't give it a chance.

We sat outside on the covered porch on a comfortable Feb evening and enjoyed good wine and food. It was quiet enough for good conversation but noisy enough to feel a good energy in the place. Appetizers were all very good, although the bruschetta was a bit average and my fettuccine with shrimp entree was good but not outstanding. Next time I might try the mahi mahi or grouper. A nice evening, but for the price not quite as good as I had hoped. If I could, I'd rate this between three and four stars.

Wonderful. I went here with my family on a vacation in Miami and had an incredibly good experience. One star taken off for sub-par views and decor. We sat outside and it was pleasant because of the company, not the atmosphere. The pink moscato was incredibly good pre-dinner, although the selection of wines overall is strong. Grilled calamari salad was typical but well done. The side salad's dressing was outstanding, which is odd considering it was supposed to be olive oil and balsamic. I had the grilled tuna with tomatos and avocados. HUGE portion. The special crab ravioli was the standout- amazingly fresh and tasty. Carbonara and a tagliatelle dish were both strong. The key lime pie was a bit jello-ey but had good flavor. The tiramisu was INCREDIBLE. I wish we had ordered more. The service was on point and in total, our dinner took 1.5 hours- perfect length for us. I would go back to Spiga for sure!

Been there twice now. It's difficult to find real 'italian' food in the US, let alone in Miami. This place comes close. They have a nice outdoor sitting area; the weather was perfect. The waitress was quick and efficient, friendly too. No complaints there. Food was very good. Went there with my SO, we had appetizers (salad for her, salmon 'carpaccio' for me), pasta (lobster papardelle for both) and we shared a key lime pie dessert. The 'salmon carpaccio' was actually smoked salmon hiding under a pile of salad. The papardelle were without flaw; very nicely prepared, coherent in flavor. We were both positively surprised. Lime pie was good, too, as far as I can tell, not too rich, with just the right amount of tartness. The only mental note that I made to myself was that I wished the portion sizes were *smaller*; I would have loved to add another course but was too full after the pasta; maybe a grilled fish or scampi? Overall, for what it is, no complaints at all; a pleasant evening.
Food was decent but was grossed out by a huge roach running under our table while eating. The staff seemed unconcerned about it and. Did not compensate us for our troubles. If you like vermin, this is the place for you!!!

Spiga is a very decent Italian restaurant right on the main strip of Miami beach on Collins. Quite a few of the wait staff had strong Italian accents and spoke to some customers in Italian. That's pretty impressive and bodes well for the place. Reservations were not a problem on a Sat night. The service was prompt and pleasant. We got a salmon entree and a pasta dish to share. It was plenty of food. The pasta was home made, very fresh and thin. The salmon was well-cooked and pretty fresh. They also have a decent wine by the glass list. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Spiga is an option for excellent Italian food that's not too over the top in price. The waiter was a friendly Italian man with sort of a thick accent. He had some good recommendations. I really really loved the pasta dish I had. I usually order chicken dishes at Italian restaurants but went with pasta and an appetizer instead. The dish was the Quadretti con Portobello and was prepared with a delicious truffle oil sauce which I couldn't get enough of. Spiga had excellent menu options and a very cute and quiet outdoor porch which was fun to eat on.

Excellent pasta--the bolognese was exactly as it was in Italy and the ravioli was light and perfectly al dente. We also had a lovely bottle of wine for under $40. Most of all the service was some of the best we've ever had. Don't bother with the Caesar salad (not the tart salty crisp salad I was expecting) and the caprese lacked fresh basil and balsamic. But the homemade mozzarella made up for it. Get an advanced reservation if you want to sit outside.

Loved the friendiness, intimacy of the small restaurant, outdoor seating and great service --and of course, great food! We didn't have reservations but the manager accomodated us and was very friendly-they had one table left and it was probably the best table we could have had. Spiga is housed in the front room of the Impala Hotel, with outdoor seating on either side of the hotel entrance. The ambiance is warm and romantic with white table clothes and soft lighting. The food here is solid Italian; there is nothing ground breaking or cutting edge. Dishes are familiar and often contain fresh and good quality ingredients. Execution can be uneven, however, which cost the restaurant a star in my rating. We started with Formaggio Tormina Piemontese Alla Griglia ($18), a take on grilled cheese, with melted Tormina cheese and portabella mushroom slices resting atop a slice of toasted home made bread. The cheese was tangy and a good match for the portabellas. The dish was good, although we might have preferred the soft focaccia, a basket of which we shared after being seated, to the toast. Bresaola Tartufata ($13) was served on a bed of Arugula drizzled with truffle oil and topped with shaved Parmesan cheese. The bresaola (air-dried beef) was thinly sliced and and made for a light and flavorful dish. Insalata di Luna ($9) was a combination of Arugula, pears & slices of Parmesan cheese tossed with olive oil and balsamic. A nice, if often seen combination of ripe fruit, sweet vinegar and slightly bitter greens. We ordered two plates of Fettuccine con Gamberi e Asparagi ($19), home made pasta with shrimp, asparagus & fresh tomatoes in white wine, garlic and olive oil. The Fettuccine was perfectly done and, along with the asparagus, was cooked al dente. The dish was garlicky and flavorful, although, one serving was curiously marred by a gritty, sandy texture. The culprit in the second serving may have been poorly cleaned asparagus, an error that the kitchen should have intercepted before it came to our table. Zuppa di Pesce ($26) is billed as the restaurant's signature soup. Out came a rich & tasty saffron-tomato based broth filled with fish, clams, calamari, shrimp, and scallops. As good as the broth was, the seafood was a bit overcooked, with the calamari being particularly chewy. Cernia allo Scoglio ($26), a sauteed grouper fillet in a saffron sauce, was garnished with mussels, clams, shrimp and calamari. The sauce was well seasoned and flavorful and the fish was cooked nicely, but again the shellfish was overcooked. Costolette D'Agnello alla Romana was a generously sauced, cut up, rack of lamb. The white wine based sauce was flavored with garlic, herbs and a hint of mint. The lamb was served medium, although it was ordered medium rare. The Dessert Combination (for two, but shared by our entire table) consisted of slices of Tiramisu and Ricotta cheesecake with a strawberry sauce, flan topped with walnuts and a scoop of chocolate mousse. The Tiramisu was good, the sauce was an interesting addition to the Ricotta cheesecake, the flan was a little flat tasting and the chocolate mouse may have been the best of the bunch. It was rich, moca-laced and creamy. The night we were there the service was very good and our waiter was quite accomodating. Rather than order off the wine list, we brought a few old vintages of wine and the waiter had some problems pulling the corks. He decanted all of the bottles for us and was often at our table checking to see how we were doing. The corkage fee is $25 per bottle, by the way. We would probably try Spiga again and hope for better and more consistent execution by the kitchen next time.

I understand that the panchetta is salty, but they must have over salted the water. It just wasn't good. In a city overrun with loud music, unhappy and rude people, and overpriced mediocre food, Spiga is truly a diamond in the rough. Last night in a desperate search for a quiet place to have great Italian food with the family I came across the reviews here for Spiga. Our expectations were met in every way. The restaurant itself is so cute and as others have said before me quaint. Sporting candle lit tables outside on the porch for those who wish to enjoy the beautiful weather Miami has to offer or a sweet interior also candlelit with soft Italian music (mostly jazz if I remember correctly) playing in the background, the restaurant won me over from the moment I walked in the door. We went on a Monday evening and it was not at all crowded. We could easily converse with each other and just enjoy our meals together without having to rub elbows with the next table of strangers or shout to be overheard. The wait staff was so kind and attentive, which is unfortunately not the norm here on South Beach. Most importantly the food was superb! The fish was very well cooked, the vegetables were fresh and well seasoned. The bread was TO DIE FOR. I also sampled my boyfriend's home made pasta dish, which was out of this world amazing so I suggest if you go, select one of their many homemade pasta options. I will say that this place is definitely not a cheap option. If you are looking for a budget meal on the town, look elsewhere. That being said I have not had a more enjoyable experience at a restaurant, since moving here to Miami. I will definitely be returning to Spiga.

Had a great meal here when I was visiting Miami a few weeks ago. My friend and I were walking around trying to find a place for dinner and wandered in. The atmosphere was dark and cozy. The place was on the small side, but we were seated right away. Definitely an understated swank crowd dining there. My fish was cooked perfectly, but the highlight of the meal was definitely the banana ice cream we had for dessert.

Its been around for years and is a celebrity zone but on the DL. The most important thing to know is that it is DELICIOUS!! The salads are scrumptious, I had veal with lemon and rosemary potatoes which was excellent but the next time I had to have the famous homemade pasta. IT WAS HEAVENLY ... so light and fresh that the pasta melted in my mouth. Its unbelievable :-) and then .... the desserts.. the ricotta cheesecake (is mouthwatering) I don't really like ricotta but try this cheesecake, you wont care what its made of its so good. The banana struedel too is so yummy. I have been there over three times in the past 2 months and it has not disappointed me yet, not one thing. The service is great, the staff is so nice. it is a South Beach Italian food gem.

Absolutely Wonderful place. We were celebrating our 5th anniversary and this was the best food we ate all weekend! We started off with the antipasto dish for two. Beautiful presentation of cheeses, italian meats, melon with procutto, resh caprice with pesto and tomato, but the homemade jelly was the best. I would of bought a jar if they sold it! We shared a plate of homemade parmesan gnocchi that simply melted in your mouth....no need to say more. My man ordered steak with 3 peppercorns sauce and I had chicken with the asparagus. Everything was great and the serve on point and a romantic atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this place!

Mediocre food. Terrible service. The antipasto mixto was a great appetizer but the spaghetti carbonara was way too thick and the flavor was off. TERRIBLE service...and at 9pm on a Tuesday night. Rarely checked on and we had to ask 4 times before someone finally refilled my water. I do not recommend this restaurant. There are much better places to eat in South Beach.

This place is perfect. The food is lovely and generous, the wine list very reasonable and the ambiance is perfect for a romantic dinner for two or a double date. I had the Veal Milanese and the seasoning was amazing along with fresh tomatoes and arugula. My kids (!) Loves the crab ravioli and spaghetti cabbinera. Key lime pie and a 2 nice bottles of Gavi, and the evening was complete. This is my 3rd visit to Spiga and I always value consistency more than anything else because you have to be able to know it's going to be just as good the next time. I had a party of 8 and it was a fantastic time.

Came here for my birthday due to my mom having some kind of connection to the owner. We were given a great table outside on a perfect night. The staff here are all excellent and attentive. The place is very cute and small. Ended up trying several things including: Wine list was okay, nothing crazy about it. We were suggested a wine, which was okay. Caesar salad was very good, but the croutons were sub-par. Bread basket was inconsistent, but the focaccia was excellent. Charcuterie plate was decent, nothing too standout aside from some good roasted veggies, the rest was pretty standard Pesto pasta was excellent The tomato pasta was not too great, my least favorite The veal ravioli was excellent, but the sauce was a bit creamy They will do half portions of pasta, I ended up getting two half portions versus a full portion, it enables you to try more of the menu. Overall good spot, but Miami is very competitive for Italian, not sure I'd come back.

Overall, the place has good service and food. Being from NYC, I have def had better Italian food at cheaper prices. However, for most cities in US, this Italian food is as good as it gets. I thought the pasta + clams i had was fresh and prepared well. In addition, i thought the appetizer of Bruschetta was good. I also had one of their homemade deserts and coffee. The coffee was dark but very good which means it was higher end coffee. Always a plus! I would come back again. Total bill was 105 (including a bottle of wine).

I was in South Beach with a friend this past weekend for the AllState half marathon and decided to have my pre-race pasta dinner here. We came in without a reservation after reading other Yelp reviews. I must say, this was probably the 2nd most pleasant dining experience I have had on South Beach.. ever! We were seated outside by the side/back of the restaurant. the decor was generally pleasant. The manager who seated us was a pretty pleasant guy and seemed happy to welcome us to the restaurant, which is always nice. Our waitress was a lady who wanted to shove the fact that she was Italian down our throats.. it was a little funny but that is about the only "bad" thing I have to say about this place. We decided to not get starters. My friend got the Mixed Seafood Linguine (Linguine AI Frutti De Mare) and I got the pasta with portabello mushrooms (Quadretti Con Portabello Olio Tartufato). Both dishes were excellent. The portions were just right, the seafood & mushrooms were cooked perfectly and there was just the right amount of garlic and seasoning. REALLY good. We then decided to have dessert. After much debate, I got the special dessert of the day - the blueberry mousse. My friend got the chocolate mousse. Both desserts were REALLY good!! Probably among the best mousse I have had period. This place is DEFINITELY NOT a tourist trap.. if you go to south beach, you MUST try it. Thank you, Spiga!

Made a reservation here based on two friends suggestions. Maybe I need new friends or maybe I just ordered wrong. I didn't want to go to a trendy place and figured since Spiga has been in business almost 20 years it must be good. Well I live in NY and maybe I'm spoiled. If I order fresh mozzarella and prosciutto I don't want dry mozz and thick sliced prosciutto. I ordered fresh pasta with shrimp. The shrimp were smaller than my pinky and the pasta clumped together. Mama....... Mia! We came here with another couple who are very good friends. They live in Broward, you know across the border. They do not like the flashy beach scene much. We could not have picked a more perfect place. Located in the front of a boutique hotel, intimate, dim lights, and the outside terrace was very cozy and quite romantic. I know it has been said but this would be a great date spot. We were first greeted by the owner who is Italian, and very hospitable. We sat outside and our server came over right away to get our drink order. The entire evening the service was excellent. After looking over the good wine list, I chose a Brunello, which was reasonably priced and very good. We started with steamed mussels in a perfect broth that was fresh and succulent.From the awesome bread and olive oil we could have made a meal of it. The minute we were out of bread or water, it got taken care of asap. Ceasar salad was delish, then we ordered our entree's. All of us chose various items. From so many different pasta dishes, seafood, osso bucco, lamb, steak, etc.... Every single dish we ordered was fantastico! I had one of the pasta dishes, it was fab! Our meal was very good, service does not get much better and a huge part of our great evening was never being rushed, enjoying the cozy atmosphere with friends and several bottles of wine in a classy elegant restaurant. Prices are slightly high, but it is the beach and well it is not cheap to run a business here. Bday, anniversary, date night, this would be a great place to check out. My only observation was their was no music, possibly something wrong with their system. I wanted to hear "Ti Amo" over and over again.

The veal was succulent. the atmosphere and mood was sweet but impeccably professional. The service was good, but almost a bit condescending. When I asked what "spiga" meant, I was told to look around at the wheat in the restaurant. Well, there were plenty of things to observe in the restaurant - wheat was not the first thing that came to mind, but whatever - the food was divine and I would tell anyone and everyone to try it out. Veal saltimbocca was some of the best I have tasted. The restaurant is nice and the food was all good. However, our server was not very good at all. It was raining and we asked to move inside, after the waiter suggested it. However, once inside we were completely ignored. We had not finished to entire meal, we wanted order coffee and dessert. Yum! What a surprising find in a sea of mediocre restaurants in South Beach. We called that day for a reservation and they were so helpful in trying to accommodate us--even on the day before New Years Eve, when South Beach is a full-on circus. Thumbs up for the penne with sausage, gnocchi and veggie pasta options. We were a pasta crowd that night, so can't comment on the meats etc. But we were all super pleased with our choices and cried real tears that we didn't have a fridge for leftovers. Decent wine list, plus a full bar. Sure, they add the tip into your bill but that's South Beach. Just know it. We didn't see our waiter much, but there are ample back servers to keep your water filled and bring you crushed red pepper, etc. If your worst problem is that you may have to fill your own glass from the wine bottle, well, that's still a pretty good night right? We will definitely go back.

Certainly better than much of the food found on South Beach, and a nice setting to get away from the crowds. Service was excellent, but the food was spotty. We started with the grilled asparagus appetizer, which was positively memorable. Very, very good. The caprese salad was good. As mentioned below, the arugula and pear salad was a great flavor combo, but tonight, the balanace was completely off. With probably 1/2 pound of arugula in one single bowl (barely exaggerating), the two slices of pears and four shavings of Parmesan just couldnt stretch themselves thin enough. Pasta with portobellas was quite flavorful. The lamb was fatty and presented with a side of overcooked and bitter spinach. For $120, we certainly had hoped for me. That said, we have spent that much on slop from chain South Beach hotels.

Best decision of the night cause let's face it, no one makes wise decisions after dinner in south beach. I had the clam pasta. Came in a light buttery garlic sauce that was perfect, not too salty or heavy. They were really courteous on the clams too. Dinner was topped off with an awesome key lime pie and cheesecake. It made for the perfect start to the night. Yes, I may not have remembered what happened that night after the restaurant, and yes I may have woken up the next morning hating everything about the world. This place is a hidden gem in the middle of South Beach. Funny enough I had never heard of it, even though I am a local. By last-minute-invite we landed at Spiga and I must say that I will definitively come back for more. The staff at the bar and the waiter were all very pleasant and nice, with a smile on their faces. Further, the service was quick and on point. The overall atmosphere of Spiga was a romantic and quaint one and no doubt the perfect "first date" spot. Since it was already rather late we only ordered main entrees, but I saw many dishes I will have to try next time around. Their pasta dishes (about 10- 15 of them) sounded very authentic and not the typical you usually see at an Italian restaurant. I ordered their special, which was the butterflied snapper in a pomegranate sauce to die for! It was paired with fresh vegetables and potatoes. The vegetables consisted of lightly breaded and baked tomatoes and onions, which I thought added a nice touch to the dish. This dish was priced at $28, which for SoBe is just the right price. I am so glad I was introduced to this great place in my neighborhood.

The good and the bad. The good - food was excellent. I got a seafood dish (grouper, mussels, baby scallops, shrimp) in a white sauce, my fiance got a pasta with 3 mushroom dish. We cleaned the plate with the bread, which was soft, warm and falvorful. Tiramisu to finish the meal was excellent (and homemade). Great ambiance out on the patio. If you want authentic Italian, this is the place to go. Now, the bad. We chose to sit on the patio at the first table on the left. Literally the first bite into our appetizer some grimy crackhead bum reached over the bushes and grabs my fiance's iPhone! Management was very helpful, called the cops and was very friendly during the entire ordeal. THe manager offered to take the appetizer back and bring a new one, but my fiance declined, asking only for our meals. When all was said and done, we were almost certain that the meal would be comped, but only the Tiramisu was taken off. A nice gesture, but we felt it came up a bit short considering the theft that had occurred on their watch. My recommendation: Go here for some great food, just don't sit by the street.

I have been only once here and the experience was amazing. It was Valentines night and surprisingly the place wasn't overly packed. It's super romantic and cozy and the service was impeccable from the beginning until the very end. I was pregnant so I was very picky about what to eat but I left quite satisfied. The bread they serve you in the beginning is amazing with a very tasty dipping sauce. My fiance and I ordered different pastas so we can share and my favorite by far was the carbonara. Dessert was also quite tasty. The prices are not too high so I definitely recommend this for a romantic evening with your loved one. You can also enjoy this place with a group of friends.

The only reason why this isn't 5 stars is because my portion was so small that my food was gone in 60 seconds and I seriously contemplated loosing all couth and licking my plate in a public eating establishment. Don't worry, I decided against licking the plate, but the sauce was so good it almost had that power over me. This was my first time having fresh, home made, pasta (far from the boxed stuff). This was the kind where they roll the dough in the kitchen and cook it then and there. My meal of choice was the lobster and crab ravioli. I absolutely love Italian and seafood so this dish was perfect for me. The pasta tasted incredibly fresh but the sauce is what made the dish. Both of my friends were beyond pleased with their dishes as well. This is one of the better restaurants on South Beach so if you are looking for more than your standard boardwalk meal, make your way to Spiga during your vacation!

Our food was really good. Everything was presented well. Best food I had in Miami! Only thing was our server was annoying. We asked that there would be two checks for our table, 9 people, 4 on one and 5 on the other. He messed that up big time. Mixed up all of them and he wasn't busy or anything. He also got us to tip him more because he said the house pulled most of his tips so my one friend felt bad and gave him 40 more on top of the % that was on the bill. We have been coming here for 7 plus years and Spiga NEVER disappoints. The owner is very sweet and always comes around to each table to check in. The staff is also very friendly and even after not coming for many months, they still remember us and do their best to give us 'our table' on the patio. The salads are always fresh, the pasta is exquisite and the meat dishes are inventive yet true Italian. They have a pretty decent wine selection which is priced better than most of the Italian restaurants in the area. We recommend to make reservations - especially on the weekends or during events.

Typical South Beach tourist trap. We had friends vacationing so made the dreaded drive across the bridge to meet them for dinner. Ordered pasta with grilled chicken strips. There was more meat in your typical single sushi roll. Wtf!! I asked the waiter to show me where the chicken was and he said "maybe" under the pasta. Took my fork, flipped over the pasta, and showed him the TINY slice of chicken, about the size of my thumb nail. Wife ordered tortelinni (sp) and it was total bird food. $19 dish and it was less than what you might get for an appetizer serving. Just another restaurant that shows their appreciation to patrons by completely overcharging for small portion sizes. Save yourself the frustration and $ and just grab a burger at 5 Guys on Collins.

Quaint romantic Italian restaurant serving homemade al dente pasta. Nice break from the busy tourist beach strip. This is a typical South Beach restaurant meaning it's overpriced and very small portions with average service. I had some friends that were staying at a hotel near this restaurant and they suggested we meet for dinner since they had eaten here before and really enjoyed it. The place was empty although it was a Tuesday night but still... empty on South Beach...The server took a little too long in taking our order and instead of noticing that our bread basket was empty, we kept having to ask for more bread. My wife accidentally tipped over a glass of wine and most of it spilled on me. The server saw what happened and didn't make any effort to help clean the red wine up. She had to ask for a tide stick and more napkins. When I was a server, I always brought more napkins, paper towels, etc. when a spill occurred. I ordered the grilled chicken pasta with sweet peas and red peppers. The food wasn't bad; however, it was a very small portion for the price of the entree. Pasta and grilled chicken are inexpensive and they definitely could have provided more of these items in the dish. We all passed on dessert since once again, it was overpriced and honestly, I was itching to get out of that place. The busboy/water refiller did a pretty good job and I'd have to say he was the only positive about this restaurant. He kept an eye on our water glasses and took the empty dishes away promptly. I don't foresee myself partaking in this restaurant's fare again.

Ever so often you run into a little gem within the overwhelming, over pretentious, and faux life-style which SOBE practically brreeds. This place is as good as it gets. Authentic Northern Italian Food. My girl friend and I visited Spiga for the first time this past Friday and Wow! Incredibile! C'è un drago! Seriously though, this place is great. The food is so fresh and the sauces are rich, wonderful texture. Unfortunately, in Miami there are so many Italian restaurants popping up these days, that its just hit or miss, but this place delivers. If you are on a date I would definitely opt to eat outside as opposed to inside the restaurant. I will definitely return Spiga, you were awesome.

This was my second time at Spiga after trying it a few years ago, and exactly as on the past visit, Spiga delivers nothing but excellence. It's a best bet in the South Beach area. The 5* is easy, since there is little competition of this caliber in the vicinity. Excellent home made pasta, I had the spaghetti carbonara and it was delicious, with the superb mussels as a starter (the jus with the mussels was fantastic) and the baby spinach salad (very fresh) my meal was complete. Good wine list and top-notch service. Finally the lighting, cleanliness and atmosphere here are also excellent. I will go again for sure, and would go several times in one stay.

I went here December 08. We decided on this place after looking up local "foodie" restaurants, and this place had some pretty good reviews. Based on my memory, I thought the service was very attentive (maybe because there weren't that many people here?). They were very nice and very helpful with the questions. I ordered the Red Snapper, and I thought it was absolutely amazing. I don't like seafood much, and my habit of trying seafood at places I think would make it well finally paid off! I found a fish I really like, and am glad I got it here. I would say to come here for Italian food that is off the beaten path. The ambiance is very nice (very Italian feeling - good thing), and is great for a date.

My Spiga experience, at 7pm on a Monday night during spring break, was great... But still wasn't perfect. My gripes are few, though, compared to the wonderful food and solid service. One complaint goes to the host, who might possibly maybe kinda sorta lied to me about seating. I put all of the qualifiers in there because I can't think of a reason for him to lie, or what the restaurant would have gained by lying... But, still. I was a table of 1 this particular night, and was told that there was only 1 table available for me due to a crush of reservations starting in 10 minutes. The table I took was right in front of the host's stand on the front porch--no problem at all for me. Problem is that, as my tasty dinner progressed, 2 or 3 more walkups without reservations (being so close, I could hear their entire conversations) were seated after the same admonitions from the host. Again--I have no idea why this type of lie would be told. It didn't make me feel special that I got a table that night, but I was happy for the great food. Another small peeve was when I asked the host for a dark linen, to protect my dark pants from white fuzz. He looked at me as though I was the first person to ever propose such a preposterous question before telling me 'no'. Ok then. Things picked up from there, and quickly. My server recommended the green ravioli over another entree choice (tagliatelle), which hit the nail on the head. Awesome, light, yet homemade pasta baked briefly in the oven. Yum! The house Pinot grigio was also good, and a relative bargain at $8.50 for a glass (this is South Beach, people). The key-lime pie for dessert was the best I have ever had, despite not having a traditional graham cracker crust (it was lighter-colored, but still excellent). The pie filling itself was so light it nearly floated off the plate. Perhaps to ensure that didn't happen, it was drizzled with strawberry syrup, which was a subtle compliment to the dish. One final note--there were some colorful characters parading by, including on the cross street I took to get from Ocean to Collins. I saw a group of (wannabe) thugs harass another walker, which caused me to cross to the other side of the street. I had no issues, but it's something to keep in mind. Total cost, including tip, for all that was mentioned above: $60.

Great restaurant! We were able to sit outside on the patio area and take in the sights/scene of South Beach - which unfortunately involved Memorial Day Hip Hop Weekend - which made for interesting stories to say the least. Anyways, the restaurant was very pretty and the staff friendly, but not overbearing. Food - Octopus appetizer - very delicious and soft, yummmy. Veal Ravioli in a Beschamel Sauce - DELICIOUS! Overall, a great meal and would go back again for sure.

Bring on the hate mail! Sorry but this place was just okay. Our waitress was pretty unfriendly, maybe because we didn't order wine? I don't know. My husband's homemade ravioli SOUNDED good but he says it kinda blew (measly portions and didn't taste all that great either). I had a shrimp and asparagus alfredo dish but it came out kinda cold. :( Definitely not worth the money.

The ambiance is classy and quiet... large outdoor area, with white table clothes, candles, smooth service. It's a nice date spot. We were looking for Italian food, for variety from all the crab and sushi we'd been eating. Based on the good yelp-age, we decided to try Spiga, and were not disappointed. I had the Linguini fruti de mar, which had mussels, calamari, scallop, and shrimp in a white wine sauce with a touch of tomato. For dessert, we shared a slice of key lime pie.

I admit it, I'm a city snob. IN NYC, Spiga would get three stars, but in Miami, where great food is less prevalent (no wonder everyone's so fit and pretty!), this place really shines. Spiga is quaint and romantic, with a wonderful outdoor seating area. The service is attentive and well-informed, and genuinely knows how to take care of its guests. The dishes are classic Italian ones, and are extremely well-done, though a tad heavy on the sauce. Spiga does not have a full bar, so no cocktails are served, but the wine list is good, and the selections in the $30s are all solid. You can even get a bottle of bubbly for less than $40! If you go with a large group, be sure to bring cash - Spiga only allows four credit cards per bill.

Used Yelper reviews to find Spiga.. thanks guys! Much like they said, the pasta is awesome (ask which ones are hand made), the service was Tremendous, very attentive and patient with our questions. Wines by the glass both Italian and domestic. Table bread, awesome. I think they love people who love and enjoy food. Had the Ravioli Verde, baked with Bechamel cheese -- wife was jealous (she ordered the less pleasing Quadretti with truffle oil). Went early at 6pm, no crowds then but it was almost packed by 7:30. Reserve and Enjoy!

After a disappointing experience at The Carlyle on Ocean my boyfriend and I walked over to Collins and found Spiga. We sat outside on the porch and even though it was a very cold night in Miami (in the low 40s) they really accommodated us with the outdoor heaters. Food was great but not something I would dream about later, I had the linguine with seafood and my boyfriend had the gnocchi. For appetizers we had the prosciutto and cantaloupe and the calamari (which i HIGHLY recommend). For dessert we had the tiramisu (delicious!) and the BF had a double espresso which he said was good, not excellent just good. Our server was EXCELLENT, great customer service and very helpful with giving recommendations.

Absolutely fantastic food and service. Normally we don't eat at the same restaurant two times on our vacations, but this were simple too good! We had pasta, meat and desserts and everything were at a very high level! Both presentation and the tast. Even though it is located at Collins it is a very romantic and the service was very pro. Yes! You have to wait a little bit, but that's how it is when everything is made from the bottom. Go there!

What a gem of a place this is! Great find for a quiet, casually elegant Italian meal in South Beach. It's classy and quiet, not like the ghetto places with street hawkers and neon lights and huge punch bowls on the main strip. And there's nothing wrong with those places, if you're in college or on a bachelor/bachelorette party. FIN. We had the lobster ravioli special with scallops, and it was delicious. The sauce was incredible. Service was great. Nothing to complain about! Make a reservation, you'll need it. If you're craving Italian after eating nothing but (awesome) Cuban food, this is a great little spot.

Lounge type music on the patio. Nice mediteranian style decor and an extensive traditional italian menu. Grilled veggies: excellent preparation with perfectly grilled zucchini slices right off the grill, eggplant was still firm and not mushy, tomato was perfectly ripe Antipasta plate is a very large sampling and perfect to start the meal with Raviolli with ricotta and spinach served with zucchini slices is a must order item. Ricotta cheescake is lighter than most but still satisfying, another not to be missed menu item.

I had to take a moment out of my busy day to write a review about this special place. Spiga is a refreshing, quaint, and a seriously delicious place to enjoy a chill evening away from the debauchery of the south beach strip. The restaurant is perfect for a small group of people looking to settle in for dinner on a beautiful Miami evening. I enjoyed the service of the wait staff - they were very attentive but also knew exactly when to fade into the background. The owner was also there and made every effort to greet his patrons. With all that said, this review is about the food and boy was it delicious. I had the grilled squid as an appetizer and a pasta/salmon dish that I'm still watering at the mouth for. Being from New York, (and this place does have the charm and class of a good NYC restaurant) I often leave Italian restaurants hungry, as the portions provided are quite small. I work out often *wink, wink* and a grown man of my stature needs to eat. Not to worry my fellow Yelpers, Spiga doesn't hold back on its portions. You will leave out of there feeling satisfied, not only in your tummy, but in your wallet as well. Here's the best part. My friend and I both had appetizers, a main course and shared a bottle of the house wine (also delicious)...the grand total: $100.00. Quick question, why are you not there already? Wonderful little Italian spot off the busy streets of South Beach, Miami. Service was excellent. Food: starters such as caprese salad and prosciutto de Parma were fresh and delicious. Fair warning, this review is probably only applicable to fellow New Yorkers. According to Yelp ratings, it'd be fair to say this is one of the best Italian restaurants in Miami Beach. However, I am not impressed at all. I can name a dozen Italian restaurants better than Spiga off top of my head, at same or lower price points than Spiga. Just to throw out a few names from my favorites, L'Artusi ($$$), L'Apicio ($$$), Bianca ($$). I'd bet my money that Spasso, Scarpetta, Malateste beats Spiga by many miles. My thoughts were "This snapper is a waste being cooked like this." "Seafood linguine is mediocre." "Lobster salad portion is ridiculously small." "Key lime pie is way too sour." Spiga wants to be high class, serve slightly more sophisticated Italian dishes, but their recipes simply don't work, and Spanish-accent waitresses are not knowledgeable in Italian cuisine or wines.. Decor was not anything worth mentioning. Seating was more cramped than you'd assume from its website photos. Two people finish at $150. I'm spoiled by fine Italian restaurants in NYC. If you're from elsewhere, you may be impressed, evidently as many Yelpers gave Spiga such high praising. Well, to each their own opinions! Cheers.

This was a last minute decision to come to Spiga (based on some Internet research and where we happened to be at the time). They say that sometimes the best things in life come to you when you least expect it, and from a culinary point of view, Spiga fits this to a tee. I had a wonderful frutti del mar pasta dish. It was out of this world. The dish featured a nice mix of clams, mussels, shrimp, and scallops done in a rich sauce and served over a bed of pasta. Even though I wasn't extremely hungry, I finished the entire thing - it was that good. If you're in the South Beach area and are looking for an out of the way treat, this place should definitely be on your list!

The short: Intimate and refined dining, the chef has a palate which should be recognized. More:I had an amazing meal here last night! My first time in south beach and w/o a trusted recommendation for a good meal I turned to yelp... Spiga!!! On a saturday at 6pm... with a child and my lady, we three entered the quaint dining-room and were given a choice seat. I was at first intimidated by the oversized thick menu, as a restaurant that tries to do everything seems to do none of it well... Luckily the menu was thick only due to a hefty leather bound cover. The offerings were adequate.. We chose a carpaccio, as well as a grilled calamari for apps, and two pastas for entrées. The wine list while narrow, did offer a wide swath of countries of origin, and prices... I selected a chianti that proved a great value at it's 43$ pricepoint... I noticed another bottle on the list that was purchased for my hosts cellar earlier that day and can attest that the mark up is fair. The kitchen was prompt to feed the child in tow, and the penne ala olive oil and garlic seemed up to the 3.5 year olds palate... Some foccacia and herbed semolina was offered paired with a fresh, roasted red pepper coilis. Shortly afterwards the squid and the carpaccio hit he table. I initially sensed a strong fishiness from the calamari, which dissipated almost immediately and was not recognized by anyone else at the table. The calamari consisted of 6 bodies lightly grilled over mixed greens with tomatoes. It was tasty, light and did not exhibit the fishiness I feared. The carpaccio had a very nice presentation capers, mixed greens and chunky shavings of parmesan. My date noticed the slices of beef were thicker than normal, and upon tasteing was quick to accurately note that it was actually roast beef! She couldn't have been more right... they were passing off rare roastbeef as shaved raw filet of carpaccio. Great roast beef! But not what was advertised, at 10$ it should have raised a flag. The pastas were the high point. We ordered a quadratini with portabello mushrooms and truffle oil. I never had quadratini before... Never even heard of it.. It was made in house, large thin rectangles... Like cocktail napkins... The truffle oil gave a light aromatic hint that did not overpower or take center stage, robust tomato based sauce was perfectly seasoned.. The other pasta was a special, and a special special at that.... A home made chestnut and cocoa papardelle in a marscapone walnut sauce... It was unreal!!! The pasta itself was so thin and elusive as if it were not even a noodle at all.. but a leafy veggie of some sort.. I have never had anything like it. I would return just for this. All throughout the meal the service was attentive and helpful and never overbearing. It was an intimate meal which I will remember, and will absolutely attempt to repeat... Thank you Spiga!!

We arbitrarily stopped in to dine at Spiga while walking along Collins, and man are we glad we did. The outdoor seating was very nice on this warm spring evening. The place had quite a few other patrons, but was not crowded. Our server was very nice, friendly and knowledgeable. Both of our meals were very well prepared. But, the Ravioli Di Vitello a Funghi Shiitake (with bechamel, and then baked) was one of the best preparations either of us have ever experienced. Really special. I was so done with the barkers and high prices in South Beach. So, for having simply stumbled upon Spiga, this was truly a great find.

Words can't explain how good this place is, they can only try and speak for my experiences time and time again. I have been to this restaurant now a number of times and finally decided to share my thoughts with Yelp; a place I consider perfect for a date or for a group of close friends reuniting. It's a small cozy place with seating both inside and out; plenty of parking as well, either on the street in front of the restaurant or in one of the parking lots (12th or 13th) directly in front as well. I highly suggest making a reservation, since they tend to get packed at certain hours and make sure to make that reservation early enough to avoid any problems. I always switch it up when ordering the pastas, they are all delicious, in fact the only one I have ever had a problem with (mainly presentation) was the Linguine Alla Checca if memory serves me correct. When it comes to appetizers I suggest my favorite, the asparagus. I have yet to try any fish at the restaurant but have devoured every plate of meat I have ever ordered, with my favorite being the Saltimbocca, it comes with prosciutto in white wine sauce. Oh, and if possible try and leave from for dessert, you will understand why when you order it. The staff is always nice and extremely helpful, and the experience is well worth the time and money.

This place was great! I cannot believe that I'd never heard of this place before last night. It was my birthday and I was lucky enough to be taken here--by someone who wasn't even from Miami and clearly did a better job to find a new restaurant than I can as a local. When the date picked me up, I was a little nervous that we were headed to a restaurant on Collins. Various spots were running through my head as to where we could be going as I had not been told. When we pulled up to this restaurant in the front of a cute boutique hotel, I sighed a breath of relief and then when we walked inside I smiled. We sat at the bar and each had a glass of prosecco to start the evening and then were seated at an outside table. The wait staff was truly phenomenal--which is saying a lot for MB. We shared the mussels appetizer and I wanted more bread to sop up the broth; one of the best I've had. I had a little difficulty deciding on my main dish and was flip flopping between the veal and sea bass special of the night. I went with the sea bass and my date got one of the veal dishes. Both were served timely and we both rather enjoyed our meal. The sauce for the sea bass was divine! We ordered a bottle of the Malbec which went perfectly with the meal and I never once had to pour my own wine as the prompt wait staff was sure to constantly have the glasses full. It was truly a great birthday dinner--and a new surprise gem for a local!

I loved this place! First off, the atmosphere of where it is, is great! I started with the grilled baby octopus which was cooked perfectly, served on a bed of argula with lemon wedges. My friend had the grilled veggie app which she enjoyed as well. I had the gnocchi for my entree. The pasta was so fresh & the red sauce was perfectly cooked. My friend had pasta as well which was totally fresh as well. Service was great. I have read the others reviews concerning the prices & I didn't feel this way. Our total bill was $63, granted we did not have drinks or dessert. I highly recommend this place. Well worth coming to and you would be missing out if you didn't give it a chance.

We sat outside on the covered porch on a comfortable Feb evening and enjoyed good wine and food. It was quiet enough for good conversation but noisy enough to feel a good energy in the place. Appetizers were all very good, although the bruschetta was a bit average and my fettuccine with shrimp entree was good but not outstanding. Next time I might try the mahi mahi or grouper. A nice evening, but for the price not quite as good as I had hoped. If I could, I'd rate this between three and four stars.

Wonderful. I went here with my family on a vacation in Miami and had an incredibly good experience. One star taken off for sub-par views and decor. We sat outside and it was pleasant because of the company, not the atmosphere. The pink moscato was incredibly good pre-dinner, although the selection of wines overall is strong. Grilled calamari salad was typical but well done. The side salad's dressing was outstanding, which is odd considering it was supposed to be olive oil and balsamic. I had the grilled tuna with tomatos and avocados. HUGE portion. The special crab ravioli was the standout- amazingly fresh and tasty. Carbonara and a tagliatelle dish were both strong. The key lime pie was a bit jello-ey but had good flavor. The tiramisu was INCREDIBLE. I wish we had ordered more. The service was on point and in total, our dinner took 1.5 hours- perfect length for us. I would go back to Spiga for sure!

Been there twice now. It's difficult to find real 'italian' food in the US, let alone in Miami. This place comes close. They have a nice outdoor sitting area; the weather was perfect. The waitress was quick and efficient, friendly too. No complaints there. Food was very good. Went there with my SO, we had appetizers (salad for her, salmon 'carpaccio' for me), pasta (lobster papardelle for both) and we shared a key lime pie dessert. The 'salmon carpaccio' was actually smoked salmon hiding under a pile of salad. The papardelle were without flaw; very nicely prepared, coherent in flavor. We were both positively surprised. Lime pie was good, too, as far as I can tell, not too rich, with just the right amount of tartness. The only mental note that I made to myself was that I wished the portion sizes were *smaller*; I would have loved to add another course but was too full after the pasta; maybe a grilled fish or scampi? Overall, for what it is, no complaints at all; a pleasant evening.

Spiga was our choice for a "fancy" dinner whilst on a long weekend in SoBe and overall we were pleased with our selection. The aesthetics were simple and clean with crisp white linens and dark wood prevalent throughout. The menu was varied but not overly cluttered and there was a nice selection of specials, which presumably change with some regularity. Overall the atmosphere was conducive to a romantic evening, which suited my purpose to a tee. To start we had the prosciutto with melon, which was decent. The melon was absolutely delicious, succulent, sweet and juicy, but the dish was slightly let down by the quality of the prosciutto. For the main course, I opted for the veal ravioli sauteed with shitake mushrooms, while my fiancé chose the grouper with mixed seafood. Her dish was definitely the better of the two, the grouper was tender and flavorful, the mussels were large and delicious, the scallops perfectly cooked and the sauce tied everything together beautifully. My ravioli was well cooked but due to the fact that they chose to serve a large number of ravioli each with only a small amount of filling the flavor of the veal was hard to pick up. The sauce was light but had a good flavor and the shitake mushrooms were tasty though, so my disappointment was tempered somewhat. We also shared a half caraffe of the house white, which was nice enough for my relatively uneducated pallate and a good value. Overall, if I could give Spiga 3 and a half stars I would, due to the slightly sub-par prosciutto and ravioli for the price, but to be perfectly honest I left happy with the meal and would recommend Spiga.

Spiga is a very decent Italian restaurant right on the main strip of Miami beach on Collins. Quite a few of the wait staff had strong Italian accents and spoke to some customers in Italian. That's pretty impressive and bodes well for the place. Reservations were not a problem on a Sat night. The service was prompt and pleasant. We got a salmon entree and a pasta dish to share. It was plenty of food. The pasta was home made, very fresh and thin. The salmon was well-cooked and pretty fresh. They also have a decent wine by the glass list. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Spiga is an option for excellent Italian food that's not too over the top in price. The waiter was a friendly Italian man with sort of a thick accent. He had some good recommendations. I really really loved the pasta dish I had. I usually order chicken dishes at Italian restaurants but went with pasta and an appetizer instead. The dish was the Quadretti con Portobello and was prepared with a delicious truffle oil sauce which I couldn't get enough of. Spiga had excellent menu options and a very cute and quiet outdoor porch which was fun to eat on.

Excellent pasta--the bolognese was exactly as it was in Italy and the ravioli was light and perfectly al dente. We also had a lovely bottle of wine for under $40. Most of all the service was some of the best we've ever had. Don't bother with the Caesar salad (not the tart salty crisp salad I was expecting) and the caprese lacked fresh basil and balsamic. But the homemade mozzarella made up for it. Get an advanced reservation if you want to sit outside.

Loved the friendiness, intimacy of the small restaurant, outdoor seating and great service --and of course, great food! We didn't have reservations but the manager accomodated us and was very friendly-they had one table left and it was probably the best table we could have had. My husband had the NY strip scortitino di monzo all'aceto balsamico and thought it was very good. I went light on the second course- the prosciutto and melon which was refreshing. Excellent! We yelp-ed this restaurant while walking around miami beach and werent disappointed ! My wife had the gnocci di patate and I had the quadretti con portobello olio tartufato (homemade pasta, portobello mushroom, truffle oil). both were delicious, my dish was especially spectacular. seemed authentic italian, great red sauce with olive oil and garlic flavors really coming through. and for dessert my wife had the tiramisu and i had the torta rustica al cioccolato - both spendid again ! plus good service and nice ambience, we sat outside and had a great table. highly recommend and would definitely go back on my next visit to miami !

Spiga is housed in the front room of the Impala Hotel, with outdoor seating on either side of the hotel entrance. The ambiance is warm and romantic with white table clothes and soft lighting. The food here is solid Italian; there is nothing ground breaking or cutting edge. Dishes are familiar and often contain fresh and good quality ingredients. Execution can be uneven, however, which cost the restaurant a star in my rating. We started with Formaggio Tormina Piemontese Alla Griglia ($18), a take on grilled cheese, with melted Tormina cheese and portabella mushroom slices resting atop a slice of toasted home made bread. The cheese was tangy and a good match for the portabellas. The dish was good, although we might have preferred the soft focaccia, a basket of which we shared after being seated, to the toast. Bresaola Tartufata ($13) was served on a bed of Arugula drizzled with truffle oil and topped with shaved Parmesan cheese. The bresaola (air-dried beef) was thinly sliced and and made for a light and flavorful dish. Insalata di Luna ($9) was a combination of Arugula, pears & slices of Parmesan cheese tossed with olive oil and balsamic. A nice, if often seen combination of ripe fruit, sweet vinegar and slightly bitter greens. We ordered two plates of Fettuccine con Gamberi e Asparagi ($19), home made pasta with shrimp, asparagus & fresh tomatoes in white wine, garlic and olive oil. The Fettuccine was perfectly done and, along with the asparagus, was cooked al dente. The dish was garlicky and flavorful, although, one serving was curiously marred by a gritty, sandy texture. The culprit in the second serving may have been poorly cleaned asparagus, an error that the kitchen should have intercepted before it came to our table. Zuppa di Pesce ($26) is billed as the restaurant's signature soup. Out came a rich & tasty saffron-tomato based broth filled with fish, clams, calamari, shrimp, and scallops. As good as the broth was, the seafood was a bit overcooked, with the calamari being particularly chewy. Cernia allo Scoglio ($26), a sauteed grouper fillet in a saffron sauce, was garnished with mussels, clams, shrimp and calamari. The sauce was well seasoned and flavorful and the fish was cooked nicely, but again the shellfish was overcooked. Costolette D'Agnello alla Romana was a generously sauced, cut up, rack of lamb. The white wine based sauce was flavored with garlic, herbs and a hint of mint. The lamb was served medium, although it was ordered medium rare. The Dessert Combination (for two, but shared by our entire table) consisted of slices of Tiramisu and Ricotta cheesecake with a strawberry sauce, flan topped with walnuts and a scoop of chocolate mousse. The Tiramisu was good, the sauce was an interesting addition to the Ricotta cheesecake, the flan was a little flat tasting and the chocolate mouse may have been the best of the bunch. It was rich, moca-laced and creamy. The night we were there the service was very good and our waiter was quite accomodating. Rather than order off the wine list, we brought a few old vintages of wine and the waiter had some problems pulling the corks. He decanted all of the bottles for us and was often at our table checking to see how we were doing. The corkage fee is $25 per bottle, by the way. We would probably try Spiga again and hope for better and more consistent execution by the kitchen next time.

We ate here on a Friday night around 7:00 and there were a few other tables seated, but were seated promptly. We sat outside and even though it was drizzling, it was warm and dry. I started with the asparagus and my gf had the octopus, both were very good. I had the gnocchi entree which was very tasty and the chocolate cake for dessert. Service was good, the restaurant was low-key, food was great, so overall a nice dinner.

I understand that the panchetta is salty, but they must have over salted the water. It just wasn't good. I think you good easily find a better Italian restaurant on south beach that is less expensive.

In a city overrun with loud music, unhappy and rude people, and overpriced mediocre food, Spiga is truly a diamond in the rough. Last night in a desperate search for a quiet place to have great Italian food with the family I came across the reviews here for Spiga. Our expectations were met in every way. The restaurant itself is so cute and as others have said before me quaint. Sporting candle lit tables outside on the porch for those who wish to enjoy the beautiful weather Miami has to offer or a sweet interior also candlelit with soft Italian music (mostly jazz if I remember correctly) playing in the background, the restaurant won me over from the moment I walked in the door. We went on a Monday evening and it was not at all crowded. We could easily converse with each other and just enjoy our meals together without having to rub elbows with the next table of strangers or shout to be overheard. The wait staff was so kind and attentive, which is unfortunately not the norm here on South Beach. Most importantly the food was superb! The fish was very well cooked, the vegetables were fresh and well seasoned. The bread was TO DIE FOR. I also sampled my boyfriend's home made pasta dish, which was out of this world amazing so I suggest if you go, select one of their many homemade pasta options. I will say that this place is definitely not a cheap option. If you are looking for a budget meal on the town, look elsewhere. That being said I have not had a more enjoyable experience at a restaurant, since moving here to Miami. I will definitely be returning to Spiga.

Had a great meal here when I was visiting Miami a few weeks ago. My friend and I were walking around trying to find a place for dinner and wandered in. The atmosphere was dark and cozy. The place was on the small side, but we were seated right away. Definitely an understated swank crowd dining there. My fish was cooked perfectly, but the highlight of the meal was definitely the banana ice cream we had for dessert.

I dont know why it has taken me two years to eat at Spiga, but since the first time.. I can't get enough. The place is small, very cute and romantic. Its been around for years and is a celebrity zone but on the DL. The most important thing to know is that it is DELICIOUS!! The salads are scrumptious, I had veal with lemon and rosemary potatoes which was excellent but the next time I had to have the famous homemade pasta. IT WAS HEAVENLY ... so light and fresh that the pasta melted in my mouth. Its unbelievable :-) and then .... the desserts.. the ricotta cheesecake (is mouthwatering) I don't really like ricotta but try this cheesecake, you wont care what its made of its so good. The banana struedel too is so yummy. I have been there over three times in the past 2 months and it has not disappointed me yet, not one thing. The service is great, the staff is so nice. it is a South Beach Italian food gem.

Absolutely Wonderful place. We were celebrating our 5th anniversary and this was the best food we ate all weekend! We started off with the antipasto dish for two. Beautiful presentation of cheeses, italian meats, melon with procutto, resh caprice with pesto and tomato, but the homemade jelly was the best. I would of bought a jar if they sold it! We shared a plate of homemade parmesan gnocchi that simply melted in your mouth....no need to say more. My man ordered steak with 3 peppercorns sauce and I had chicken with the asparagus. Everything was great and the serve on point and a romantic atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this place!

This place is perfect. The food is lovely and generous, the wine list very reasonable and the ambiance is perfect for a romantic dinner for two or a double date. I had the Veal Milanese and the seasoning was amazing along with fresh tomatoes and arugula. My kids (!) Loves the crab ravioli and spaghetti cabbinera. Key lime pie and a 2 nice bottles of Gavi, and the evening was complete. This is my 3rd visit to Spiga and I always value consistency more than anything else because you have to be able to know it's going to be just as good the next time. Came here for my birthday due to my mom having some kind of connection to the owner. We were given a great table outside on a perfect night. The staff here are all excellent and attentive. The place is very cute and small. Ended up trying several things including: Wine list was okay, nothing crazy about it. We were suggested a wine, which was okay. Caesar salad was very good, but the croutons were sub-par. Bread basket was inconsistent, but the focaccia was excellent. Charcuterie plate was decent, nothing too standout aside from some good roasted veggies, the rest was pretty standard Pesto pasta was excellent The tomato pasta was not too great, my least favorite The veal ravioli was excellent, but the sauce was a bit creamy They will do half portions of pasta, I ended up getting two half portions versus a full portion, it enables you to try more of the menu. Overall good spot, but Miami is very competitive for Italian, not sure I'd come back.

Overall, the place has good service and food. Being from NYC, I have def had better Italian food at cheaper prices. However, for most cities in US, this Italian food is as good as it gets. I thought the pasta + clams i had was fresh and prepared well. In addition, i thought the appetizer of Bruschetta was good. I also had one of their homemade deserts and coffee. The coffee was dark but very good which means it was higher end coffee. Always a plus! I would come back again. Total bill was 105 (including a bottle of wine).

I was in South Beach with a friend this past weekend for the AllState half marathon and decided to have my pre-race pasta dinner here. We came in without a reservation after reading other Yelp reviews. I must say, this was probably the 2nd most pleasant dining experience I have had on South Beach.. ever! We were seated outside by the side/back of the restaurant. the decor was generally pleasant. The manager who seated us was a pretty pleasant guy and seemed happy to welcome us to the restaurant, which is always nice. Our waitress was a lady who wanted to shove the fact that she was Italian down our throats.. it was a little funny but that is about the only "bad" thing I have to say about this place. We decided to not get starters. My friend got the Mixed Seafood Linguine (Linguine AI Frutti De Mare) and I got the pasta with portabello mushrooms (Quadretti Con Portabello Olio Tartufato). Both dishes were excellent. The portions were just right, the seafood & mushrooms were cooked perfectly and there was just the right amount of garlic and seasoning. REALLY good. We then decided to have dessert. After much debate, I got the special dessert of the day - the blueberry mousse. My friend got the chocolate mousse. Both desserts were REALLY good!! Probably among the best mousse I have had period. This place is DEFINITELY NOT a tourist trap.. if you go to south beach, you MUST try it. Thank you, Spiga!

Made a reservation here based on two friends suggestions. Maybe I need new friends or maybe I just ordered wrong. I didn't want to go to a trendy place and figured since Spiga has been in business almost 20 years it must be good. Well I live in NY and maybe I'm spoiled. If I order fresh mozzarella and prosciutto I don't want dry mozz and thick sliced prosciutto. I ordered fresh pasta with shrimp. The shrimp were smaller than my pinky and the pasta clumped together. I wanted to like this place. Great atmosphere But Sorry Spiga. I won't be back.

Mama....... Mia! We came here with another couple who are very good friends. They live in Broward, you know across the border. They do not like the flashy beach scene much. We could not have picked a more perfect place. Located in the front of a boutique hotel, intimate, dim lights, and the outside terrace was very cozy and quite romantic. I know it has been said but this would be a great date spot. We were first greeted by the owner who is Italian, and very hospitable. We sat outside and our server came over right away to get our drink order. The entire evening the service was excellent. After looking over the good wine list, I chose a Brunello, which was reasonably priced and very good. We started with steamed mussels in a perfect broth that was fresh and succulent.From the awesome bread and olive oil we could have made a meal of it. The minute we were out of bread or water, it got taken care of asap. Ceasar salad was delish, then we ordered our entree's. All of us chose various items. From so many different pasta dishes, seafood, osso bucco, lamb, steak, etc.... Every single dish we ordered was fantastico! I had one of the pasta dishes, it was fab! Our meal was very good, service does not get much better and a huge part of our great evening was never being rushed, enjoying the cozy atmosphere with friends and several bottles of wine in a classy elegant restaurant. Prices are slightly high, but it is the beach and well it is not cheap to run a business here. Bday, anniversary, date night, this would be a great place to check out. My only observation was their was no music, possibly something wrong with their system. I wanted to hear "Ti Amo" over and over again.

Veal saltimbocca was some of the best I have tasted. The restaurant is nice and the food was all good. However, our server was not very good at all. It was raining and we asked to move inside, after the waiter suggested it. However, once inside we were completely ignored. We had not finished to entire meal, we wanted order coffee and dessert. Yum! What a surprising find in a sea of mediocre restaurants in South Beach. We called that day for a reservation and they were so helpful in trying to accommodate us--even on the day before New Years Eve, when South Beach is a full-on circus. Thumbs up for the penne with sausage, gnocchi and veggie pasta options. We were a pasta crowd that night, so can't comment on the meats etc. But we were all super pleased with our choices and cried real tears that we didn't have a fridge for leftovers. Decent wine list, plus a full bar. Sure, they add the tip into your bill but that's South Beach. Just know it. We didn't see our waiter much, but there are ample back servers to keep your water filled and bring you crushed red pepper, etc. If your worst problem is that you may have to fill your own glass from the wine bottle, well, that's still a pretty good night right? We will definitely go back.

We started with the grilled asparagus appetizer, which was positively memorable. Very, very good. The caprese salad was good. As mentioned below, the arugula and pear salad was a great flavor combo, but tonight, the balanace was completely off. With probably 1/2 pound of arugula in one single bowl (barely exaggerating), the two slices of pears and four shavings of Parmesan just couldnt stretch themselves thin enough. Pasta with portobellas was quite flavorful. The lamb was fatty and presented with a side of overcooked and bitter spinach. For $120, we certainly had hoped for me. That said, we have spent that much on slop from chain South Beach hotels.

Came here on a whim while walking down South Beach with a few friends. Saw the good reviews on yelp and decided to stop here. Best decision of the night cause let's face it, no one makes wise decisions after dinner in south beach. I had the clam pasta. Came in a light buttery garlic sauce that was perfect, not too salty or heavy. They were really courteous on the clams too. Dinner was topped off with an awesome key lime pie and cheesecake. It made for the perfect start to the night. Yes, I may not have remembered what happened that night after the restaurant, and yes I may have woken up the next morning hating everything about the world. But the one thing I did not hate even then was the food here.

This place is a hidden gem in the middle of South Beach. Funny enough I had never heard of it, even though I am a local. By last-minute-invite we landed at Spiga and I must say that I will definitively come back for more. The staff at the bar and the waiter were all very pleasant and nice, with a smile on their faces. Further, the service was quick and on point. The overall atmosphere of Spiga was a romantic and quaint one and no doubt the perfect "first date" spot. Since it was already rather late we only ordered main entrees, but I saw many dishes I will have to try next time around. Their pasta dishes (about 10- 15 of them) sounded very authentic and not the typical you usually see at an Italian restaurant. I ordered their special, which was the butterflied snapper in a pomegranate sauce to die for! It was paired with fresh vegetables and potatoes. The vegetables consisted of lightly breaded and baked tomatoes and onions, which I thought added a nice touch to the dish. This dish was priced at $28, which for SoBe is just the right price. I am so glad I was introduced to this great place in my neighborhood.

The good and the bad. The good - food was excellent. I got a seafood dish (grouper, mussels, baby scallops, shrimp) in a white sauce, my fiance got a pasta with 3 mushroom dish. We cleaned the plate with the bread, which was soft, warm and falvorful. Tiramisu to finish the meal was excellent (and homemade). Great ambiance out on the patio. If you want authentic Italian, this is the place to go. Now, the bad. We chose to sit on the patio at the first table on the left. Literally the first bite into our appetizer some grimy crackhead bum reached over the bushes and grabs my fiance's iPhone! Management was very helpful, called the cops and was very friendly during the entire ordeal. THe manager offered to take the appetizer back and bring a new one, but my fiance declined, asking only for our meals. When all was said and done, we were almost certain that the meal would be comped, but only the Tiramisu was taken off. A nice gesture, but we felt it came up a bit short considering the theft that had occurred on their watch. My recommendation: Go here for some great food, just don't sit by the street.

I have been only once here and the experience was amazing. It was Valentines night and surprisingly the place wasn't overly packed. It's super romantic and cozy and the service was impeccable from the beginning until the very end. I was pregnant so I was very picky about what to eat but I left quite satisfied. The bread they serve you in the beginning is amazing with a very tasty dipping sauce. My fiance and I ordered different pastas so we can share and my favorite by far was the carbonara. Dessert was also quite tasty. The prices are not too high so I definitely recommend this for a romantic evening with your loved one. You can also enjoy this place with a group of friends.

The only reason why this isn't 5 stars is because my portion was so small that my food was gone in 60 seconds and I seriously contemplated loosing all couth and licking my plate in a public eating establishment. Don't worry, I decided against licking the plate, but the sauce was so good it almost had that power over me. This was my first time having fresh, home made, pasta (far from the boxed stuff). This was the kind where they roll the dough in the kitchen and cook it then and there. My meal of choice was the lobster and crab ravioli. I absolutely love Italian and seafood so this dish was perfect for me. The pasta tasted incredibly fresh but the sauce is what made the dish. Both of my friends were beyond pleased with their dishes as well. This is one of the better restaurants on South Beach so if you are looking for more than your standard boardwalk meal, make your way to Spiga during your vacation!

Great place for a first date, or 500th date, also very family friendly. Daunting amount of menu options at first glance but easily reduced when you know what you want (pasta, seafood, meat). Would eat here everyday if I wasn't from New York.

Everything you want an amazing Miami Beach Italian restaurant to be- unbelievable food, quiet and relaxed environment, homemade pasta... The homemade fettucini with a white wine and tomato sauce with shrimp, asparagus, and fresh tomato was just as good (if not better) than it sounds. It not only had my boyfriend across the table jealous, but the table next to us ordered the dish after seeing mine (and probably hearing my satisfied mmmm's). It's nice to escape crazy ocean drive and find a quaint, romantic restaurant with five star food. This is a place I will return to on my next trip to Miami.

Every trip to Miami consists of dinner at Spiga. We always call ahead to make a reservation because the outdoor seating fills up very quickly even on weeknights. The staff are always so kind and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The bread and amazing oil creation in the begining of the meal is very hard to pass up! Delicious taste, but make sure you save room for the actual food!! The pastas are beyond delectable, you can't go wrong with any! Very nice drink menu as well. Wow what a waste of time. This place was horrible from start to finish. Never again. The other reviews make me think that it was an off night. The dining room smelled of Clorox. The red cab house wine was flat. The home made quat pasta was boring with boring red sauce. And the special duck dish was rubbery. Really, I felt cheated. I wish I had an experience like the other reviewers here. The wait staff was pleasant.

Amazing food and ambiance. I loved the ricotta and spinach ravioli. And the Tiramisu is to die for :) They have good vegetarian options as well. Make reservation if possible as it might be hard to find a table otherwise.

Our food was really good. Everything was presented well. Best food I had in Miami! Only thing was our server was annoying. We asked that there would be two checks for our table, 9 people, 4 on one and 5 on the other. He messed that up big time. Mixed up all of them and he wasn't busy or anything. He also got us to tip him more because he said the house pulled most of his tips so my one friend felt bad and gave him 40 more on top of the % that was on the bill. He made out pretty good that night.

We have been coming here for 7 plus years and Spiga NEVER disappoints. The owner is very sweet and always comes around to each table to check in. The staff is also very friendly and even after not coming for many months, they still remember us and do their best to give us 'our table' on the patio. The salads are always fresh, the pasta is exquisite and the meat dishes are inventive yet true Italian. They have a pretty decent wine selection which is priced better than most of the Italian restaurants in the area. We recommend to make reservations - especially on the weekends or during events.

My party of 9 visited Spiga last weekend for a bachelorette dinner. Loved every minute of it! The ambiance was great, the food was great, the service was great. My grilled calamari was passed around the table and I thought it might not make it back to me...delicious. Everyone cleaned their plates with no complaints at all. Typical South Beach tourist trap. We had friends vacationing so made the dreaded drive across the bridge to meet them for dinner. Ordered pasta with grilled chicken strips. There was more meat in your typical single sushi roll. Wtf!! I asked the waiter to show me where the chicken was and he said "maybe" under the pasta. Took my fork, flipped over the pasta, and showed him the TINY slice of chicken, about the size of my thumb nail. Wife ordered tortelinni (sp) and it was total bird food. $19 dish and it was less than what you might get for an appetizer serving. Just another restaurant that shows their appreciation to patrons by completely overcharging for small portion sizes. Save yourself the frustration and $ and just grab a burger at 5 Guys on Collins.

Quaint romantic Italian restaurant serving homemade al dente pasta. Nice break from the busy tourist beach strip. This is a favorite neighborhood Italian restaurant much like you would find in many precious cities. Delicious food, attentive service and modest white tablecloth decor. Definitely recommend for small groups or party of two. If you're heading to South Beach and looking for a quieter place with quality Italian cuisine that is not a tourist trap, I highly recommend dining at Spiga.

This is a typical South Beach restaurant meaning it's overpriced and very small portions with average service. I had some friends that were staying at a hotel near this restaurant and they suggested we meet for dinner since they had eaten here before and really enjoyed it. The place was empty although it was a Tuesday night but still... empty on South Beach...The server took a little too long in taking our order and instead of noticing that our bread basket was empty, we kept having to ask for more bread. My wife accidentally tipped over a glass of wine and most of it spilled on me. The server saw what happened and didn't make any effort to help clean the red wine up. She had to ask for a tide stick and more napkins. When I was a server, I always brought more napkins, paper towels, etc. when a spill occurred. I ordered the grilled chicken pasta with sweet peas and red peppers. The food wasn't bad; however, it was a very small portion for the price of the entree. Pasta and grilled chicken are inexpensive and they definitely could have provided more of these items in the dish. We all passed on dessert since once again, it was overpriced and honestly, I was itching to get out of that place. The busboy/water refiller did a pretty good job and I'd have to say he was the only positive about this restaurant. He kept an eye on our water glasses and took the empty dishes away promptly. I don't foresee myself partaking in this restaurant's fare again.

Ever so often you run into a little gem within the overwhelming, over pretentious, and faux life-style which SOBE practically brreeds. This place is as good as it gets. Authentic Northern Italian Food. My girl friend and I visited Spiga for the first time this past Friday and Wow! Incredibile! C'è un drago! Seriously though, this place is great. The food is so fresh and the sauces are rich, wonderful texture. Unfortunately, in Miami there are so many Italian restaurants popping up these days, that its just hit or miss, but this place delivers. If you are on a date I would definitely opt to eat outside as opposed to inside the restaurant. I will definitely return Spiga, you were awesome.

Can not wait to go back to Miami!!! We were recommended to this place by our concierge and boy was she right!!! I'll have to look up the pictures to see what we ate, but all I remember was that the mussels, lobster, clams soooo fresh and flavorful! This was my second time at Spiga after trying it a few years ago, and exactly as on the past visit, Spiga delivers nothing but excellence. It's a best bet in the South Beach area. The 5* is easy, since there is little competition of this caliber in the vicinity. Excellent home made pasta, I had the spaghetti carbonara and it was delicious, with the superb mussels as a starter (the jus with the mussels was fantastic) and the baby spinach salad (very fresh) my meal was complete. Good wine list and top-notch service. Finally the lighting, cleanliness and atmosphere here are also excellent. I will go again for sure, and would go several times in one stay.

I went here December 08. We decided on this place after looking up local "foodie" restaurants, and this place had some pretty good reviews. Based on my memory, I thought the service was very attentive (maybe because there weren't that many people here?). They were very nice and very helpful with the questions. I ordered the Red Snapper, and I thought it was absolutely amazing. I don't like seafood much, and my habit of trying seafood at places I think would make it well finally paid off! I found a fish I really like, and am glad I got it here. I would say to come here for Italian food that is off the beaten path. The ambiance is very nice (very Italian feeling - good thing), and is great for a date.

My Spiga experience, at 7pm on a Monday night during spring break, was great... But still wasn't perfect. My gripes are few, though, compared to the wonderful food and solid service. One complaint goes to the host, who might possibly maybe kinda sorta lied to me about seating. I put all of the qualifiers in there because I can't think of a reason for him to lie, or what the restaurant would have gained by lying... But, still. I was a table of 1 this particular night, and was told that there was only 1 table available for me due to a crush of reservations starting in 10 minutes. The table I took was right in front of the host's stand on the front porch--no problem at all for me. Problem is that, as my tasty dinner progressed, 2 or 3 more walkups without reservations (being so close, I could hear their entire conversations) were seated after the same admonitions from the host. Again--I have no idea why this type of lie would be told. It didn't make me feel special that I got a table that night, but I was happy for the great food. Another small peeve was when I asked the host for a dark linen, to protect my dark pants from white fuzz. He looked at me as though I was the first person to ever propose such a preposterous question before telling me 'no'. Ok then. Things picked up from there, and quickly. My server recommended the green ravioli over another entree choice (tagliatelle), which hit the nail on the head. Awesome, light, yet homemade pasta baked briefly in the oven. Yum! The house Pinot grigio was also good, and a relative bargain at $8.50 for a glass (this is South Beach, people). The key-lime pie for dessert was the best I have ever had, despite not having a traditional graham cracker crust (it was lighter-colored, but still excellent). The pie filling itself was so light it nearly floated off the plate. Perhaps to ensure that didn't happen, it was drizzled with strawberry syrup, which was a subtle compliment to the dish. One final note--there were some colorful characters parading by, including on the cross street I took to get from Ocean to Collins. I saw a group of (wannabe) thugs harass another walker, which caused me to cross to the other side of the street. I had no issues, but it's something to keep in mind. Total cost, including tip, for all that was mentioned above: $60.

Great restaurant! We were able to sit outside on the patio area and take in the sights/scene of South Beach - which unfortunately involved Memorial Day Hip Hop Weekend - which made for interesting stories to say the least. Anyways, the restaurant was very pretty and the staff friendly, but not overbearing. Food - Octopus appetizer - very delicious and soft, yummmy. Veal Ravioli in a Beschamel Sauce - DELICIOUS! Overall, a great meal and would go back again for sure.

My husband's homemade ravioli SOUNDED good but he says it kinda blew (measly portions and didn't taste all that great either). The ambiance is classy and quiet... large outdoor area, with white table clothes, candles, smooth service. It's a nice date spot. We were looking for Italian food, for variety from all the crab and sushi we'd been eating. Based on the good yelp-age, we decided to try Spiga, and were not disappointed. I had the Linguini fruti de mar, which had mussels, calamari, scallop, and shrimp in a white wine sauce with a touch of tomato. For dessert, we shared a slice of key lime pie.

I admit it, I'm a city snob. IN NYC, Spiga would get three stars, but in Miami, where great food is less prevalent (no wonder everyone's so fit and pretty!), this place really shines. Spiga is quaint and romantic, with a wonderful outdoor seating area. The service is attentive and well-informed, and genuinely knows how to take care of its guests. The dishes are classic Italian ones, and are extremely well-done, though a tad heavy on the sauce. Spiga does not have a full bar, so no cocktails are served, but the wine list is good, and the selections in the $30s are all solid. You can even get a bottle of bubbly for less than $40! If you go with a large group, be sure to bring cash - Spiga only allows four credit cards per bill.

Used Yelper reviews to find Spiga.. thanks guys! Much like they said, the pasta is awesome (ask which ones are hand made), the service was Tremendous, very attentive and patient with our questions. Wines by the glass both Italian and domestic. Table bread, awesome. I think they love people who love and enjoy food. Had the Ravioli Verde, baked with Bechamel cheese -- wife was jealous (she ordered the less pleasing Quadretti with truffle oil). Went early at 6pm, no crowds then but it was almost packed by 7:30. Reserve and Enjoy!

After a disappointing experience at The Carlyle on Ocean my boyfriend and I walked over to Collins and found Spiga. We sat outside on the porch and even though it was a very cold night in Miami (in the low 40s) they really accommodated us with the outdoor heaters. Food was great but not something I would dream about later, I had the linguine with seafood and my boyfriend had the gnocchi. For appetizers we had the prosciutto and cantaloupe and the calamari (which i HIGHLY recommend). For dessert we had the tiramisu (delicious!) and the BF had a double espresso which he said was good, not excellent just good. Our server was EXCELLENT, great customer service and very helpful with giving recommendations.
